Romania Resumes Direct Flights to China; Bucharest-Beijing Route Launches September 4

Direct travel between Romania and China will resume on September 4, with the inauguration of an air route connecting Bucharest and Beijing. Air China will operate the flights, offering three services per week.

This new route marks a significant step in enhancing connectivity and cooperation between the two nations. The Romanian Embassy in Beijing stated that the service will help position Bucharest as a key hub linking to China's and Asia's major economic, cultural, and political centers. The flights are expected to facilitate bilateral contacts in tourism, economic cooperation, and cultural exchanges.

The new air route operated by Air China, round trip, on the destination: Beijing (PEK) - Bucharest (OTP) - Zagreb (ZAG), marks a new stage in the development of connectivity and cooperation between our countries, contributing to positioning Bucharest as an increasingly well-connected link to the major economic, cultural and political centers of China and Asia.

Ambassador Dan-Horia Maxim of Romania to China described the flight resumption as a major diplomatic and economic achievement designed to bring their communities closer. He believes this connectivity corridor will spur dialogue and cooperation, creating tangible benefits. The inaugural ceremony for the Beijing-Bucharest-Zagreb route was a joint effort by the Romanian and Croatian embassies in Beijing, along with Air China, attracting Chinese officials, media, business representatives, and tourism sector stakeholders.

Historically, TAROM launched the first direct flight between Bucharest and Beijing in 1974, establishing an initial air link between the countries.
