Romania risks worse than Greece, economist warns after 'eat grass' crisis prediction

An advisor to Romania's National Bank (BNR) issued a stark warning about a potential extreme crisis, suggesting the country might resort to eating "grass and tree bark." This alarming statement has prompted further analysis from economist Cristian Păun, who amplified the concerns.

Păun warned that Romania faces the risk of a severe economic downturn, potentially worse than Greece's past crisis. He attributed this vulnerability to the country's substantial external debt and a persistent lack of necessary reforms. These factors, he argued, could push Romania toward a stringent agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
