Romanian driver speeds past pedestrian on crossing, flees scene

A young woman in Galati, Romania, narrowly escaped a serious accident on a pedestrian crossing when a speeding driver failed to yield. The incident occurred as the woman was legally crossing the street, with another vehicle in the adjacent lane having already stopped to allow her passage.

The speeding car approached without stopping, forcing the woman to jump out of the way at the last moment to avoid being struck. The driver involved did not stop after the incident but fled the scene. This reckless act endangered the pedestrian and violated traffic laws.

Road police have launched an investigation to identify the driver responsible. Authorities are examining surveillance camera footage from the area and any video recordings made by witnesses to reconstruct the event accurately. According to Romanian traffic law, failing to yield to pedestrians who are legally crossing the street can result in a fine and the suspension of the driver's license for 60 days.
