Romanian forensic doctor dies of heart attack at workplace

The medical community in Constanța, Romania, is mourning the unexpected death of Dr. Liviu Mocanu, a forensic doctor who passed away from a heart attack while on duty. The tragic event occurred at the Mangalia Municipal Hospital, where Dr. Mocanu was working.

Colleagues present at the time made immediate efforts to resuscitate him, but unfortunately, their attempts to save his life were in vain. The hospital administration expressed profound sorrow and regret over the "sudden passing" of their colleague, describing him as an "exceptional doctor, a consummate professional, and a man of great noble spirit."

Dr. Mocanu's sudden departure has left a significant void in the medical community and in the hearts of those who knew him. He was widely appreciated for his professionalism, unwavering dedication, and the empathy he consistently showed throughout his career. Beyond his work as a forensic doctor, Dr. Mocanu also served as the president of the Constanța County Health Insurance House from 2005 to 2009.

During his tenure, he was recognized for his contributions to the smooth functioning of the health insurance system in the county. The institution extended its condolences to his family and loved ones, remembering his impactful work. Dr. Mocanu graduated from the Faculty of General Medicine in Bucharest in 1990 and had been a primary physician and head of the Pathological Anatomy Laboratory at the Mangalia Municipal Hospital since 1999.
