Romanian PM-designate open to AUR's economic proposals amid investiture uncertainty

Romania's designated Prime Minister Adrian Veștea has indicated a willingness to incorporate economic proposals from the nationalist AUR party into the new government's program. Following a meeting with AUR leaders, Veștea stated he was "open to any request" from the party, led by George Simion.

Veștea described the discussions as focused on economic themes that AUR wishes to see included in the governing agenda. He assured the party of his availability to consider their proposals, emphasizing that they would be included if they do not negatively impact the economy or the budget. "I have openness to any request," Veștea told reporters after leaving the AUR headquarters.

The designated Prime Minister confirmed his intention to proceed to Parliament for the investiture vote later that evening. He expects parliamentarians, who have been briefed on the government program, to cast their votes accordingly.

However, the path to investiture appears uncertain. Reports suggest that AUR has escalated its demands in negotiations, reportedly seeking the influential position of Senate president for one of its members. Such a strategic role could potentially grant that individual interim presidential powers if the country's president were to be suspended.
