Romanian President to Attend Corvette Commissioning Ceremony in Istanbul with Erdoğan

Romanian President Nicușor Dan is set to attend a significant ceremony in Istanbul for the commissioning of the new corvette "Contraamiral August Roman." The vessel, constructed in Turkey for the Romanian Naval Forces, marks a substantial enhancement to Romania's maritime capabilities in the Black Sea region.

The HISAR-class corvette is designed for various missions, including surface combat, anti-aircraft defense, and anti-submarine warfare. Its deployment will bolster Romania's capacity for surveillance and rapid response, while also supporting critical infrastructure protection and maritime communication security.

During his visit to Istanbul, President Dan is scheduled to hold a meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. Discussions are expected to focus on key priorities of the Strategic Partnership between Romania and Turkey, the security situation in the Black Sea, and preparations for the NATO summit slated for July 7-8 in Ankara.
