Romanian President to visit Moldova for Independence Day, meet Sandu and Zelenskyy

Romanian President Nicușor Dan is set to visit the Republic of Moldova on Thursday to participate in the nation's Independence Day celebrations, marking 35 years since Moldova declared its independence. The visit underscores the strong ties between Romania and Moldova and highlights regional solidarity.

President Dan's itinerary includes a visit to the construction site of the Bogdan Petriceicu Hașdeu Republican Musical-Dramatic Theater in Cahul and a tour of the Bogdan Petriceicu Hașdeu University Center. Later, in Chișinău, he will hold a one-on-one meeting followed by official talks with Moldovan President Maia Sandu at the Presidential Palace.

A significant part of the visit will be the trilateral meeting involving President Dan, President Sandu, and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This high-level discussion is expected to focus on regional security, cooperation, and current geopolitical challenges. The three leaders will hold a joint press conference following their meeting.

President Dan will also attend the military parade in the Great National Assembly Square organized for Independence Day and will join Presidents Sandu and Zelenskyy at a festive concert. The visit concludes with a dinner hosted by President Sandu. The Romanian President's partner, Mirabela Grădinaru, is also expected to visit Moldova on September 1.
