Romanian Students to Have Five Vacation Periods in 2026-2027 School Year

Students and kindergarteners in Romania will observe five distinct vacation periods throughout the 2026-2027 academic year, according to a structure approved by the Ministry of Education. The school year is set to commence on September 7, 2026, and conclude on June 18, 2027, encompassing 36 weeks of instruction.

The autumn break is scheduled from October 24 to November 1, 2026. Following approximately seven weeks of classes, students will then enter the winter vacation, which aligns with the Christmas and New Year holidays, running from December 23, 2026, to January 10, 2027.

A mobile vacation, often referred to as the ski break, will be determined by county inspectorates between February 15 and March 7, 2027. Each school must communicate its chosen week for this break by April 1, 2026. The spring vacation is slated for April 24 to May 4, 2027, coinciding with the Easter period.

Graduation ceremonies for 12th graders and vocational students will conclude earlier, on June 4 and June 25, 2027, respectively. The main summer vacation will begin on June 19, 2027, and last until September 5, 2027, preceding the start of the 2027-2028 academic year.
