Romanian Teenager Detained After Allegedly Stealing Two Cars in One Night, Driving Without License

A 16-year-old from Husasău de Tinca, Bihor county, Romania, faces detention after allegedly committing a string of car thefts and driving offenses within a single night. The minor is being investigated for theft for use and driving without a license.

According to the Bihor County Police Inspectorate, the incident occurred between the night of June 17 and the early morning of June 18. The teenager allegedly first stole a car parked on a street in Husasău de Tinca around 1:30 AM. The vehicle was reportedly unlocked with the keys in the ignition. He then drove this car to Hidișelu de Jos before abandoning it.

Several hours later, around 4:00 AM, the minor is accused of scaling the fence of a property in Hidișelu de Jos to steal a second car. This vehicle was also reportedly left unlocked with the keys inside. He drove this second stolen car along county road 729A before abandoning it near Păușa and Miersig.

Police officers from Rural Police Station No. 5 Oradea located the teenager near the abandoned vehicle. A subsequent check revealed he did not possess a driving license for any category of vehicle. Following evidence gathering, the Bihor Criminal Investigation Service ordered his detention for 24 hours. He has been placed in the Bihor County Police Inspectorate's detention and pre-trial arrest center. Prosecutors are overseeing the ongoing investigation to determine the full scope of his criminal actions and to recover any damages.
