Romanians move summer vacations to autumn for lower prices and fewer crowds

Romanians are increasingly opting to shift their summer holidays into September, seeking a more relaxed and budget-friendly experience. This trend is driven by the appeal of more pleasant temperatures, reduced crowds in tourist destinations, and notably, lower accommodation prices after the peak summer season.

For those who can travel outside the traditional July-August window, September offers a chance for seaside or mountain getaways at a reduced cost. The Romanian coast sees significant price drops, with rooms in Mamaia potentially costing between 370-500 lei per night, while more budget-friendly options in Eforie Nord start at approximately 190 lei for three-star hotels. Even popular spots like Neptun offer rooms for as little as 150-250 lei per night for a couple, making a three-night stay potentially cost between 450 and 750 lei.

The mountains also present attractive deals. In Sinaia, a double room with breakfast in September might range from 194 to 229 lei per night at three-star hotels. Bușteni offers packages for a three-night stay starting around 314 lei per person, with other options reaching 344-420 lei. Predeal's prices vary, with some rooms around 400 lei per night and others as low as 135-190 lei per person per night.

Financial considerations are a primary driver for this shift. Raluca, a 26-year-old, explained her preference for September: "Prices seem too high in August. In September, we can stay a few days without feeling like we're spending all our money on accommodation. It's quieter, the beach and streets aren't as crowded, and the temperatures are more bearable."
