Ronaldo makes history with goals in sixth World Cup final as Portugal crushes Uzbekistan

Cristiano Ronaldo etched his name further into football history by scoring twice in Portugal's commanding 5-0 victory over Uzbekistan, becoming the first player ever to score across six different World Cup finals.

His brace not only secured a dominant win for Portugal but also saw him surpass Eusebio as Portugal's all-time leading World Cup scorer. At 41 years and 138 days old, Ronaldo also became the second-oldest player to score in the tournament's history. This achievement contrasts with his great rival Lionel Messi, who has scored in five World Cups but missed scoring in the 2010 edition.

Portugal controlled the match from the start in Houston. Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring in the sixth minute, capitalizing on a cross from Cancelo. Nuno Mendes extended the lead with a free-kick just 11 minutes later. Although Uzbekistan had a goal disallowed for a foul, Ronaldo struck again in the 39th minute, assisted by Bruno Fernandes, to make it 3-0 by halftime. An own goal by Uzbekistan's goalkeeper Nematov and a late strike from Rafa Leao in the 87th minute sealed the comprehensive victory.

Portugal will now face Colombia in a crucial group stage match, while Uzbekistan will play DR Congo in a battle to avoid last place in Group K.
