Rondón scores twice as Pachuca defeats Pumas 3-0

Salomón Rondón was the star of the show as Pachuca opened their Apertura 2026 campaign with a commanding 3-0 victory over Pumas UNAM. The Venezuelan striker netted two goals, showcasing his clinical finishing and aerial prowess.

Pachuca established their dominance early, pressing Pumas and limiting their attacking options. The first goal came in the 18th minute when Rondón capitalized on a rebound, firing a powerful shot from the edge of the box. Just three minutes later, Elías Montiel doubled the lead after a defensive lapse from Pumas, striking from outside the area.

Rondón sealed his brace and Pachuca's victory in the 31st minute, heading home a cross from Oussama Idrissi. He completed his hat-trick in the 80th minute with another header from a Montiel cross, further solidifying Pachuca's convincing win. The team, managed by Benjamín Mora, displayed intensity and control throughout the match.
