ROP to mark International Day Against Drug Abuse, Trafficking

The Royal Oman Police (ROP) is joining the global observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Trafficking on June 26. This annual event emphasizes the need to intensify efforts against drug abuse and trafficking, which threaten societal security and individual well-being.

This year's focus is on emerging trends in drug trafficking and abuse, including new substances and the use of modern technologies and social media to promote narcotics. The ROP is committed to combating these issues through public awareness programs and enhanced international cooperation.

As part of the observance, the ROP will host a sports event at Al Mouj Walk in A'Seeb on June 27, from 5 to 9 p.m., encouraging broad community participation. Additionally, the Directorate General for Combating Drugs and Psychotropic Substances will hold an exhibition at Muscat Mall in A'Seeb on June 28. This exhibition will showcase the security roles the directorate plays in addressing drug and psychotropic substance abuse.
