ROP urges school bus drivers to ensure no students are left behind

As Oman’s new school year begins, the Royal Oman Police is reminding school bus drivers that a few minutes of checking can prevent a fatal mistake.

The police urged drivers to make bus inspections routine after every trip. They should confirm that all students have disembarked when buses arrive at or leave schools, and pay particular attention to children who may be asleep or tired.

The guidance also calls for drivers to check that aisles and seats are clear, with special care given to the back seats. “Minutes of checking can save lives,” the ROP said.

A total of 876,117 male and female students started the 2026/2027 academic year at schools across Oman’s governorates. The figure includes 440,899 male students and 435,218 female students.
