UTAS welcomes more than 10,000 students for 2026/2027

The University of Technology and Applied Sciences has welcomed 10,563 students across its branches and academic programmes for the 2026/2027 academic year.

All registered students are Omani nationals. Female students number 5,868, compared with 4,695 male students. Ibri recorded the highest enrollment among the university's branches, with 1,935 students, followed by Muscat with 1,581, Shinas with 1,337 and Salalah with 1,313. The remaining students enrolled at branches in Nizwa, Ibra, Al Musannah, Sohar, Sur, Al Rustaq and Musandam.

Business Administration and Commercial Studies attracted the largest number of new students, with 3,372. Engineering programmes followed with 3,077, while Computer and Information Science programmes enrolled 2,947. Creative Industries received 530 students, Education 358, and Applied Sciences and Pharmacy 279.

Registration ran from August 20 to 25, with 10 withdrawals recorded. The university said it is continuing to develop its learning environments, infrastructure and educational technologies while expanding partnerships with government and private-sector institutions.

UTAS also highlighted tuition-free scholarship opportunities under the Omani Programme for Cultural and Scientific Cooperation. Students from friendly and brotherly countries who live in Oman and completed Grade 12 at an Omani or international school can apply through the Unified Admission Centre. The university said it aims to support applied education, training and graduates' readiness for the labor market.
