Roy Suryo, Dr. Tifa Arrested Over Alleged Fake Diploma Claims

Authorities arrested two suspects, Roy Suryo and Tifauziah Tyassuma, known as Dr. Tifa, on Friday morning, June 19, 2026. The arrests stem from allegations of a fake diploma belonging to Indonesian President Joko Widodo. Suryo was apprehended at his residence in Bintaro, Tangerang Selatan, while Dr. Tifa was arrested at her apartment.

The arrests have drawn strong objections from the legal teams representing both individuals. Ahmad Khozinudin, a lawyer for Suryo, described the arrest as "uncivilized," stating that police entered Suryo's private room despite requests from his wife to wait. He also claimed police ignored requests to wait for legal counsel, threatening to handcuff Suryo if he did not comply.

Another lawyer for Suryo, Refly Harun, reported that Suryo was not given adequate time to prepare. "He told me he didn't have time for anything, luckily he still had time to perform the dawn prayer. So he hadn't showered, hadn't dressed properly and then was forced to be taken to Polda Metro," Harun said.

Dr. Tifa's legal team confirmed her arrest occurred around 6:47 AM. Notably, she was reportedly preparing to take her doctoral exam (S3) at the time of her arrest. Despite being detained, her lawyers stated she proceeded to take the exam online from within the police station premises, sharing a photo of her doing so.
