Roy Suryo Seeks Rp206 Million Compensation in Pretrial

KMRT Roy Suryo, a suspect in the case of alleged fake diplomas concerning Indonesian President Joko Widodo, is demanding Rp206 million in compensation through his third pretrial motion filed at the South Jakarta District Court. The respondents in this pretrial include the Metro Jaya Regional Police Chief and the DKI Jakarta Prosecutor's Office. One of Roy Suryo's legal representatives stated that the demand includes Rp106 million in material losses and Rp100 million in immaterial losses. Suryo's legal team argues that the material losses stem from his four-day detention. This includes lost income from his personal YouTube account, estimated at a minimum of Rp3 million per day, totaling Rp12 million for the detention period. Additional material damages claimed include legal consultation and litigation fees for his advocacy team, calculated at Rp5 million per day for four days, amounting to Rp20 million. The litigation costs for the 11-person advocacy team for one pretrial session were stated as Rp30 million, with Rp44 million allocated for transportation and meals for the team over eight days. The immaterial losses, described as attacks on his honor, psychological burden, anxiety, and social stigma due to extensive media coverage, are cited as the basis for the Rp100 million compensation demand. This third pretrial motion was registered on July 15, 2026, under case number 118/Pid.Pra/2026/PN JKT.SEL, focusing on 'Compensation for Losses.' In a previous pretrial concerning his suspect status, the judge rejected Suryo's motion. However, in the first pretrial regarding searches, arrests, and detention, the judge ruled in favor of Roy Suryo.
