RT head in Pamulang becomes suspect, dispute began with warning over burning trash

Chris Jatender, the head of RT 02/RW 08 in Bambu Apus, Pamulang, Tangerang Selatan, has been named a suspect and detained in connection with an alleged assault case. The incident reportedly stemmed from a reprimand issued to a resident, Fakhriadi, for burning dry leaves in his yard.

Initially, the complainant Fakhriadi was burning dry leaves in the side yard of his house. At that time, Chris Jatender, the local RT head, passed by and reprimanded the complainant because the trash burning was considered a violation of environmental regulations.

The conflict began on September 24, 2025, when Jatender, passing by, warned Fakhriadi that burning trash violated environmental regulations. Fakhriadi countered that he was only burning dry leaves, which he believed was permissible. This disagreement quickly escalated into a heated argument.

According to police reports, the dispute intensified when Jatender returned to Fakhriadi's house and spoke in a raised voice. Fakhriadi, feeling uncomfortable, emerged from his home, and the exchange became more heated. Fakhriadi allegedly made disrespectful remarks, calling Jatender an unelected RT head, which prompted Jatender to question him further.

The situation devolved into a physical confrontation. Police stated that Fakhriadi twice splashed water from a fish pond onto Jatender using a large glass, hitting his face and clothes. Fakhriadi then reportedly emerged with a wooden stick, which he allegedly swung at Jatender, hitting him in the chest. In response, Jatender allegedly swung a helmet, striking Fakhriadi in the face and causing him to fall. The physical altercation continued with Jatender allegedly pinning Fakhriadi down and striking him multiple times.

The case is charged under Article 351 paragraph (1) of the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 466 paragraph (1) of the New Criminal Code.
