Russia Confirms CIA Director Met with SVR Chief in Moscow

Sergey Naryshkin, the Director of Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), has confirmed that he met with his U.S. counterpart, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, in Moscow. Naryshkin stated that the meeting addressed issues falling under the operational responsibilities of intelligence agencies.

"The meeting took place. There is nothing unusual about it," Naryshkin told reporters in the Russian capital. He stressed that face-to-face or online meetings between heads of intelligence services are a standard part of their work. Naryshkin indicated that he holds such meetings with leaders of intelligence agencies from various regions around the world almost every week.

The SVR chief characterized his discussion with Ratcliffe as a "working meeting" conducted within this established framework. The confirmation comes amid ongoing geopolitical tensions, making any direct communication between high-ranking intelligence officials from Russia and the United States a point of significant interest.
