Russia confirms massive missile attack on Kiev and six other Ukrainian regions

The Russian military launched a massive overnight assault with missiles and drones, striking targets in Kiev and six other Ukrainian regions, the Russian Defense Ministry confirmed. The attack aimed at Ukraine's military-industrial complex and critical infrastructure, according to Moscow.

Russian Defense stated that the offensive, employing long-range precision weapons including hypersonic missiles and drones, targeted facilities in Kiev, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Khmelnytskyi, and Sumy. The ministry also claimed strikes on fuel and transport infrastructure used by the Ukrainian military, as well as military airfields.

"The attack achieved its purpose, all objectives were reached," the Russian military command declared in a statement. This confirmation follows reports from Ukrainian authorities indicating that at least ten people died in the wave of attacks, described as one of the most extensive of the war and the largest in recent months.

Tonight, in response to the terrorist attacks by the Kiev regime, the Russian Armed Forces launched a massive attack using air, ground, and sea long-range precision weapons, including hypersonic missiles and drones.

Ukraine's Air Force reported that Russia deployed 73 missiles of various types, including 33 ballistic missiles, and 656 long-range drones. Ukrainian air defenses claimed to have neutralized 40 missiles and 602 drones. However, 33 missiles and a number of drones reportedly evaded interception, impacting 38 unspecified locations across Ukraine. Fragments from downed projectiles also fell in fifteen other areas.

This large-scale offensive comes after Moscow announced the imminent commencement of attacks on Ukrainian decision-making centers. Russian President Vladimir Putin had previously warned that the war had entered a new qualitative phase following a Ukrainian attack on a student dormitory in Luhansk on May 22, which resulted in 21 deaths, including minors.
