Russia develops AI-powered anti-aircraft defense systems

Russia is prioritizing the development of advanced anti-aircraft defense systems that leverage artificial intelligence, according to Defense Minister Andrei Belousov. This initiative is one of seven key projects slated for completion by the end of the year, with results expected in November.

We are actively engaged in this, I am referring to anti-aircraft defenses. This is one of the seven projects that we must complete before the end of the year (...) We will have the results in November.

Belousov highlighted the dynamic nature of the battlefield, particularly the increasing frequency of Ukrainian drone attacks on Russian rear areas. He noted that the situation requires constant adaptation, with significant changes occurring approximately every two to three months.

To address these evolving threats, Russia is actively deploying mobile anti-aircraft defense groups equipped with FPV interceptor drones. The country is also implementing integrated computer systems designed to define targets at the tactical level and provide a comprehensive overview of the combat situation. This includes equipping military units, platoon leaders, and combat vehicle crews with tablets linked to this unified system, which connects with command centers and radar units.

These are mobile groups armed primarily with FPV interceptor drones. We are actively implementing this.

These layered anti-aircraft defense systems are being established across all military groupings to effectively repel drone attacks. Drones have become a prominent feature of the conflict in Ukraine, utilized by both sides for intelligence gathering, logistical support, and direct attacks.
