Russia launches deadly, massive ballistic missile attack in Kyiv, Ukraine

Kyiv endured a devastating overnight assault as Russia unleashed a barrage of 41 missiles and 125 attack drones, killing at least one person and injuring 16 others. The attack, which began around 1:30 a.m. local time, saw explosions echo across the capital for several hours, with residential buildings, office and industrial sites, a dormitory, and vehicles sustaining damage in five districts.

Ukrainian forces reported intercepting 108 drones and 18 missiles, including at least 17 ballistic missiles. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the majority of the missiles were directed at the capital. Viktoria Shejko, a resident sheltering with her family, described the harrowing experience of hearing successive missile impacts. "It's very difficult psychologically, because lately they've been firing ballistic missiles at us very often," she said, noting the increased frequency of such attacks.

In an effort to bolster Kyiv's defenses, U.S. President Trump indicated at a NATO conference his readiness to grant Ukraine licenses for Patriot missile production.
