Russia receives first gasoline shipment from India amid fuel crisis

Russia has begun receiving gasoline from India, with the first shipment arriving in early August. The initial delivery consisted of about 42,000 tons of fuel, transported by the tanker 'Cyclone' from an Indian refinery owned in part by Rosneft. The fuel was later transferred to a different vessel near Egypt before its final journey to Russia.

This development comes as Russia grapples with a domestic fuel crisis, exacerbated by drone attacks on its oil refineries. The imports are part of a larger strategy to secure 400,000 tons of gasoline monthly from international sources. Earlier reports indicated that Russia had already dispatched at least 60,000 tons of gasoline from India.

Neighboring Kyrgyzstan has also been affected by disruptions in Russian fuel supplies. The two countries have an agreement for monthly deliveries of 100,000 tons of fuel and lubricants. However, reduced supplies from Russia have led to increased gasoline and diesel prices in Kyrgyzstan, with shortages reported for certain fuel grades.
