Russia reports over 400 drones in overnight attack on Moscow region

Russia's capital region was the target of a massive overnight drone assault, with Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin reporting that over 400 drones were directed at the area between Sunday evening and early Monday morning. Most of these aerial threats were neutralized by air defense systems at a distance, according to Sobyanin's statement on the state-run messaging service Max.

From 8:30 PM (7:30 PM Danish time) to 5:00 AM (4:00 AM Danish time), more than 400 enemy drones flew towards the Moscow region.

Sobyanin further specified that 85 unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed as they attempted to approach Moscow. While the majority of the drones were intercepted, explosions were reported, leading to six individuals being hospitalized with injuries. Among the injured are three foreign nationals, according to reports from Domodedovo Hospital cited by the Russian news agency Tass.

The extent of the damage and the precise cause of the injuries were not immediately clarified, and it remains uncertain if there is a direct correlation between the reported explosions and the downed drones. This incident occurs amid a recent escalation of Ukrainian attacks targeting Russian territory and Russian-controlled areas.
