Russia's most expensive car: The Aurus Senat 900 aims to rival Mercedes

Aurus Motors, a Russian automaker, has introduced the Senat 900, a luxury sedan designed to compete with established European giants like the BMW 7 Series and Mercedes S-Class.

The Senat 900 is powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine, producing 326 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. This power is channeled to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission, enabling the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.5 seconds. The vehicle is now in production at the former Toyota manufacturing facility in St. Petersburg, and orders are being accepted.

Depending on the chosen configuration, the Senat 900's list price falls between 50 and 52 million Hungarian forints (approximately $135,000 to $140,000). This pricing places it directly in competition with premium sedans from German manufacturers, signaling Aurus Motors' ambition in the high-end automotive market.

This launch marks a significant step for Russia's automotive industry, aiming to establish a domestic luxury brand capable of challenging international players. The focus on performance and luxury features suggests a strategy to appeal to a discerning clientele.
