Russia to showcase new Sukhoi Su-57E weapons package in Egypt

Russia is preparing to put a new face on its export fighter campaign in Egypt. At the Egypt International Airshow in El Alamein from Sept. 8 to 10, 2026, state-owned Rostec will present the Sukhoi Su-57E with a weapons package that has not previously been shown publicly in Russia or abroad.

The exhibition will include a static display of the newly integrated weapons systems. An updated version of the export fighter is also scheduled to perform a live flight demonstration. Rostec initially said the jet would appear alongside what it called entirely new weapons. In a later announcement, the company said the Su-57 would demonstrate its ability to operate with high-speed, long-range stealth drones.

The drones can be configured with different wing designs depending on the mission, according to the report. An aerobatic performance is also planned to highlight the fighter’s maneuverability.

The appearance in Egypt comes as Moscow intensifies efforts to market the Su-57 overseas, amid what it views as limited interest from potential buyers. Russia opened the possibility in July 2026 of offering new missiles and other weapons with the export version to make the aircraft more attractive.

The program still faces challenges. Production remains relatively low, while US and Western sanctions imposed after Russia’s military operation in Ukraine have pushed Su-57 sales to their lowest point, the report said.
