Russia-Ukraine Exchange of Fire: 15 Dead in Ukraine, Russia, and Occupied Territories

Crossfire between Russia and Ukraine claimed at least 15 lives, with authorities in both nations reporting casualties. Five people died in Ukrainian territory due to Russian strikes, while 10 others perished in attacks targeting Russia and occupied areas. These latest exchanges occurred a day after a significant Russian drone and missile assault on Ukraine's capital, which killed at least 30 and injured about 100.

In southern Ukraine's Zaporizhzhia region, under Russian control, a Ukrainian strike on a market in Tokmak killed at least five and injured 18, according to the Moscow-appointed governor Yevgeny Balitsky. Earlier, he reported three deaths in the same area from overnight Ukrainian attacks. Ukrainian strikes also caused two deaths in Russia's Belgorod and Bryansk regions, near the Ukrainian border.

Kyiv has escalated its attacks on Russia and occupied territories, framing them as retaliation for nearly daily Russian bombardments since the February 2022 invasion. Russian overnight strikes in the Sumy region of northern Ukraine killed four people in Romny. A residential building caught fire, with casualties including a toddler under two years old. Three people were injured.

In Kryvyi Rih, eastern Ukraine, one person died and five were injured from Thursday night into Friday. Ukrainian rescue services reported 13 injured in the same region from Russian strikes targeting a factory, educational buildings, apartments, and fuel stations. Following the massive strikes on Kyiv, Ukraine vowed retaliation, while Russia stated its intention to continue its attacks.
