The death toll from a Russian drone strike on an ammunition warehouse in Ukraine's Bucha district, near Kyiv, has climbed to 37, according to Ukrainian officials. This attack, which occurred Friday, is among the deadliest of the year in the country.

Initial reports indicated 27 fatalities and 42 injured, including four children. The blast also damaged about 50 nearby residential buildings, prompting the evacuation of nearly 400 people.

President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the incident, emphasizing that accountability must be established for decisions that permitted ammunition storage close to residential areas. This event echoes a similar incident in Vishneve, Kyiv region, on July 6, where nine people died and over 280 homes were damaged after a prolonged detonation at an ammunition depot following a Russian attack. Tkachenko declared Sunday a day of mourning in the Kyiv region for the victims of the Bucha attack, urging that such tragedies must not be repeated.
