Russian drone debris found in Moldova

Wreckage identified as a Russian drone has been found in Moldova, near the village of Velenio in the Cahul district. The discovery raises concerns about the proximity of military activity to the country's borders.

Following an initial examination of the fragments, structural features, materials, and markings, specialists concluded that the drone is a 'Geran-2' model. This type of unmanned aerial vehicle is known as a Russian long-range attack drone, often referred to as a kamikaze drone due to its intended use.

All recovered parts of the drone will be subjected to further expert analysis to determine more details about its origin and potential mission. The presence of such debris in Moldovan territory underscores the ongoing security implications of regional conflicts.

The incident has prompted an investigation, with the findings to be shared following the completion of the expert examination. Moldova has previously reported drone sightings and debris related to the conflict in neighboring Ukraine.
