Russian influencer suffers severe burns after portable charger ignites hair

Russian influencer Anna Otavina narrowly escaped a serious tragedy when a portable phone charger malfunctioned, igniting her hair and bedding while she slept. The 24-year-old recounted the terrifying experience on social media, explaining how the overheating charger, left on her bed, caused a fire that quickly spread.

The fire broke out in a split second. I left a portable charger on the bed with which I was charging my phone. I think that's what caused the fire because it overheated in contact with the bed. I was lying with my back to the portable charger, and my hair was loose. When I jumped out of bed, my burning hair fell on my back.

Otavina described waking up to the fire and jumping out of bed, only for her burning hair to fall onto her back. The flames then spread to her pillow and blanket, and the ignited charger fell to the floor, setting the carpet ablaze. She managed to extinguish the fires herself before tending to her burns.

Emergency services arrived promptly, and Otavina was diagnosed with second-degree burns covering 30% of her body. She has since issued a stark warning to her followers: never leave portable chargers unattended, especially overnight, and to always unplug them. Otavina, who gained online fame as a clairvoyant offering advice on various personal matters, stated she will no longer use portable chargers.
