Sadiq Goal Sinks Newcomers in Lagos

Rilwanu Sadiq’s 71st-minute strike gave Doma United a 1-0 victory over fellow newcomers Inter Lagos at Mobolaji Johnson Arena on Saturday.

The win preserved Doma United’s perfect start to the new Nigeria Premier Football League season. The Savannah Tigers had opened their campaign with a 2-0 victory over Sporting Lagos and now have two wins since securing promotion to the top flight.

Inter Lagos remain without a point after two matches. They also lost their first game, a 2-1 defeat by Shooting Stars.

Doma United’s tactical discipline and teamwork, praised by technical adviser Ayodeji Ayeni after the opening-day victory, again shaped the team’s performance in Lagos. The result also ended a wider two-match losing streak for Doma United and gave the Benue side three wins in its last five competitive matches.

The fixture was the clubs’ first meeting in the top flight. It also marked Doma United’s second consecutive away win against Inter Lagos-based opposition, following a 1-0 victory over the same opponents in their previous encounter.
