Sailing Ban in Effect for Rafina and Lavrio Ports Until 4 PM Due to Strong Winds

Strong winds in the Aegean Sea, reaching force 8 and 9 locally, have disrupted ferry schedules from Attica's ports, leading to cancellations and modifications. The situation remains dynamic, affecting travel plans for many.

From the port of Piraeus, most services are running as scheduled, including those to the Saronic Gulf islands. However, several departures to the Cyclades and Crete were canceled this morning. Specifically, the 'Blue Star Paros' to Syros, Tinos, and Mykonos, the 'Eurochampion Jet 2' to Syros, Mykonos, Naxos, Ios, and Thira, and the 'Super Speed 4' to Paros, Naxos, and Koufonisi did not depart. The 'Champions League Jet 2' service to Syros, Tinos, Paros, Naxos, Thira, and Heraklion was also canceled.

The port of Rafina is experiencing more significant disruptions, with only services to Marmari operating. For other Cycladic islands, the sailing ban is in effect until 4 PM. Similarly, departures from the port of Lavrio are suspended until 4 PM due to the strong winds.

According to the Hellenic Coast Guard and ferry operators, some ferries departing from Piraeus may alter their routes to island ports due to the adverse weather conditions.
