Salah scores twice as Trabzonspor beat Basaksehir 2-1

Mohamed Salah opened his scoring account in the Turkish Super Lig with a brace, guiding Trabzonspor to a crucial 2-1 victory over Istanbul Basaksehir on Sunday. This win marks Trabzonspor's first of the season.

Salah, who transferred to Trabzonspor on a free transfer after a successful nine-year tenure at Liverpool, demonstrated his prowess throughout the match. He netted his first goal in the eighth minute, seizing an opportunity when Basaksehir goalkeeper Muhammed Sengezer failed to control the ball. Although Eldor Shomurodov equalized for Basaksehir from a penalty in the 19th minute, Salah restored Trabzonspor's lead just three minutes into the second half. He initiated a swift attack down the right flank, exchanged passes with teammate Ernest Muci, and calmly slotted the ball into the far corner of the net.

In a standout performance, Salah also had two goals disallowed. One was ruled out in stoppage time due to a foul in the build-up, and another was disallowed for offside when he attempted to score from long range with the opposing goalkeeper out of position. Salah will now shift his focus to Trabzonspor's Europa League playoff second leg against Ferencvaros.
