Samarinda Instills Anti-Corruption Culture in New Students

The Samarinda city government is actively promoting a culture of integrity among new students by integrating anti-corruption education into the school environment. During the School Environment Introduction Period (MPLS) for the 2026/2027 academic year, the "Integrity School" program was launched at SMPN 22 Samarinda. This initiative underscores the government's commitment to instilling values of honesty and responsibility from a young age. Samarinda's Regional Secretary, Neneng Chamelia Shanti, stated that the program aims to shape a generation that rejects cheating and is prepared to become moral future leaders. She emphasized that character development is as crucial as academic quality for regional progress. The "Integrity School" program, managed by the Samarinda Inspectorate, is a routine agenda that rotates among different schools. Its expansion to cover all sub-districts in Samarinda this year aims to provide equitable character education, with a target of implementing it in at least 10 schools annually. The head of SMPN 22 Samarinda, Febiyanti Violeta, welcomed the program, expressing hope that it will build a strong foundation for a school environment free from dishonesty and cheating. Alongside this initiative, SMPN 22 Samarinda declared five key commitments for the new academic year: becoming a child-friendly school, an anti-corruption character school, an inclusive reference school, a healthy school, and a school working towards city and independent environmental awards (Adiwiyata).
