Sameday finalizes Cargus acquisition, entering operational integration phase

Sameday has finalized its acquisition of Cargus, marking the beginning of an operational integration phase for the two Romanian courier companies. The deal, approved by the Competition Council, sees Sameday owning 100% of Cargus as of August 3, 2026.

The integration process will involve gradually aligning delivery networks, teams, and internal systems. The ultimate goal is to establish a shared infrastructure for courier services, aiming for greater efficiency and a higher standard of service for customers and partners. Lucian Baltaru, CEO of Sameday Group, stated that this marks the "finish line" of an extensive process and that the companies are now "one company building its future." He emphasized that the integration will require significant effort but is driven by the unchanged goal of providing a more efficient delivery infrastructure.

Belgin Bactali, CEO of Cargus, echoed this sentiment, calling the transaction's completion the start of a "new chapter" for the company. She expressed confidence that joining Sameday will enable them to build a more effective network and superior service standards for all clients.

The acquisition substantially alters the Romanian courier market landscape. Sameday strengthens its market standing by merging the infrastructure and resources of both companies. The integration is expected to enhance national coverage and boost operational efficiency for both individual consumers and businesses utilizing delivery services. Specific details on the integration timeline and any potential customer-facing changes will be communicated as the process unfolds. Sameday brings over 17 years of experience, approximately 5,000 employees, and a digital infrastructure, operating in Romania, Hungary, and Bulgaria with a network of over 7,000 easybox lockers. Cargus, with over 30 years in the market, employs over 2,600 people and offers services through its SHIP & GO network of over 2,000 points and lockers, alongside five national sorting centers and 36 depots in Romania.
