Samsung Display Begins Supplying Laptop OLEDs Meeting VESA True Black 1400 Standard

Samsung Display is now supplying laptop-grade tandem OLED panels that meet VESA's stringent DisplayHDR True Black 1400 certification. This new standard demands exceptional black performance, with levels below 0.0005 nits, and a peak brightness of 1400 nits across 10% of the screen. This represents a significant 40% increase in brightness requirements compared to the previous top-tier certification.

The tandem OLED technology, a key innovation from Samsung Display, achieves this by stacking two emission layers. This design not only boosts peak brightness up to 1600 nits, surpassing traditional single-stack OLEDs, but also doubles the panel's lifespan. Furthermore, the stacked structure helps mitigate localized heat generation, a common cause of screen burn-in on laptops used for static tasks.

This advancement is crucial for Samsung Display as it navigates a competitive market, facing rivals like BOE, Visionox, and TCL CSOT.
