Samsung, SK, Lotte, Shinsegae Join Gov't 'K-New Deal Academy' for Youth Talent Development

South Korea's leading conglomerates are joining forces with the government to cultivate the next generation of talent through the 'K-New Deal Academy.' Samsung, SK, Lotte, and Shinsegae groups announced their participation in the initiative, which is designed to bolster youth employment and vocational skills.

The program, spearheaded by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Ministry of Employment and Labor, will provide extensive job training. Samsung is launching a new program called 'Youth Hope Campus,' recruiting 1,000 unemployed youths from non-metropolitan areas for training in fields such as electronics, shipbuilding, and baking. The curriculum includes up to 700 hours of integrated training with practical experience and certification support.

The SK Group is focusing on artificial intelligence (AI) and specialized knowledge from its affiliates. SK Hynix will train 300 individuals in AI semiconductor technology, while SK Telecom will offer security network training to 173 participants in Daejeon, Daegu, and Busan. SK AX plans to train 260 youths in AI fundamentals and expertise in Gwangju and Ulsan, offering successful candidates preferential treatment in hiring processes.

Lotte Group's 'Lift' program offers practical training in retail and hospitality, involving Lotte Department Store and Lotte Hotel. Approximately 270 participants will receive comprehensive training and career consulting, with preferential treatment for outstanding graduates applying to Lotte affiliates. Shinsegae Group's 'Future & Dream Academy' will select all 400 trainees from non-metropolitan areas, focusing on retail expertise with hands-on training and site visits. Top performers may receive immediate hiring or resume screening exemptions for Shinsegae affiliates.
