The "Avengers" actor amplified a message from the SEC Black Alumni Network, which urged Black communities not to support Argentina in the FIFA World Cup.

The shared image featured a picture of Stephen, a character Jackson portrayed in "Django Unchained," wearing an Argentinian jersey. The accompanying text stated, "If you are a Black person supporting Argentina, this is how I see you." This character was known for defending slavery and opposing people of color.

Jackson's post quickly went viral, drawing sharp criticism from users who accused him of inciting hatred and xenophobia. Many Argentinians defended their nation, calling the claim "simply false" and highlighting the country's history of welcoming immigrants from around the globe. Some users questioned why Jackson would promote xenophobia while supposedly fighting racism, and others pointed out the historical context of racial discrimination in the United States.

Commenters reminded Jackson of the civil rights struggles in the U.S., noting that segregation and racial discrimination were outlawed only in the 1960s.
