San Miguelito Operations Seize 29 Firearms, Lead to 150 Arrests

Authorities in Panama's San Miguelito district have reported significant results from recent police operations, including the confiscation of 29 firearms and the apprehension of 150 individuals. These actions are part of an intensified security strategy aimed at curbing a recent increase in criminal activity within the densely populated district.

The operations, which commenced on Friday, involved 160 property searches and are a direct response to growing concerns among residents about rising rates of robbery, homicide, and gang-related offenses. Sub-commissioner Omar Del Cid of the San Miguelito police zone highlighted that the arrests target individuals wanted for various offenses and that police presence remains at full capacity throughout the jurisdiction.

With the support of the Ministry of Security, over 500 police units have been deployed across San Miguelito. Officials hope that these measures, including the seizure of weapons and arrests, will lead to a tangible decrease in crime and enhance public safety. The increased police presence is expected to continue as authorities work to address the community's concerns and combat escalating criminal behavior.
