SAR transports over 1.9 million pilgrims on Mashair Metro during Hajj

Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) announced the successful conclusion of its Mashair Metro operations for the 2026 Hajj season, having transported more than 1.9 million pilgrims. The metro served as a vital transportation link, connecting nine stations across the holy sites of Arafat, Muzdalifah, and Mina.

Throughout the Hajj period, the Mashair Metro completed 1,800 trips, showcasing its significant operational capacity and efficiency in serving the large volume of pilgrims. SAR emphasized that the service was delivered in accordance with the highest standards of safety and quality, ensuring a smooth experience for all.

The metro's operations spanned seven days, commencing on Dhul Hijjah 7 (May 24) and concluding after the final pilgrim movements on May 30, following the Days of Tashreeq. SAR highlighted the metro's effectiveness in managing high passenger volumes during all critical phases of pilgrim movement, including transit to Arafat, Muzdalifah, Mina, and the Jamarat Bridge.

An integrated operational plan facilitated seamless mobility for pilgrims navigating between the sacred locations. SAR's efforts underscore the kingdom's commitment to leveraging technology and infrastructure to enhance the Hajj experience for millions of worshippers.
