Saraki joins world leaders in Italy to discuss US global role

Former Nigerian Senate President Bukola Saraki is participating in a high-level international workshop in Lake Como, Italy, focusing on the evolving global landscape and the United States' shifting role in international affairs. The three-day event, organized by the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, carries the provocative theme, "Big Daddy Gone? Global Partnerships Without U.S. Leadership."

The workshop convenes global leaders and policy experts to dissect the implications of a potential reduction in US engagement in global partnerships. Discussions will also center on identifying and exploring emerging opportunities for other regions to fill the void. Saraki is slated to present the African perspective during a panel on "Development Policies: Withdrawal of the United States from International Development – Opportunities and Challenges."

Saraki's selection to represent Africa at this forum is attributed to his extensive experience in both the private and public sectors, including his tenure as Senate President and Governor of Kwara State. He will share the stage with international figures, including Dr. Paola de Aleman from Primero Justicia and Professor Christian Leuprecht from the Royal Military College of Canada. The session will be moderated by Dr. Tillman Feltes of the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung.

Beyond the US role, the workshop agenda includes discussions on future US strategic priorities, Germany's approach to international partnerships, the rise of new global alliances, strategic dependencies, and opportunities for cooperation and defense.
