Saudi Arabia at UN: Attacks Worsen Sudan's Humanitarian Crisis and Conflict

Saudi Arabia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dr. Abdulaziz Alwasil, has stated that ongoing attacks targeting Sudan's unity, sovereignty, and institutions have severely exacerbated the humanitarian crisis and widened the conflict.

Addressing a UN Security Council session on Sudan's humanitarian situation, Alwasil stressed the critical importance of upholding commitments made under the Jeddah Platform. He also called for compliance with relevant Security Council resolutions aimed at resolving the crisis.

Alwasil strongly condemned the actions of the Rapid Support Forces, citing their violations and attacks against civilians, particularly in North and South Kordofan. These actions have resulted in casualties and damage to civilian infrastructure and humanitarian aid convoys, further deepening the suffering.

He stressed the importance of upholding the commitments under the Jeddah Platform and complying with relevant Security Council resolutions.

The Saudi envoy also highlighted the Kingdom's sustained support for the Sudanese people. He noted that Saudi Arabia has provided $100 million through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), bringing the total value of Saudi humanitarian and development aid to Sudan to over $3.1 billion.
