Saudi Arabia recorded 8,384 cancer deaths in 2022

Cancer deaths in Saudi Arabia were almost evenly divided between men and women in 2022. The country recorded 4,198 deaths among males and 4,186 among females, a difference of just 12 cases.

Overall, 8,384 people died from cancer, including 7,352 Saudi citizens and 1,032 non-Saudis. The figures appeared in the Saudi Health Council’s 2025 annual report, which reviewed cancer mortality rates in 2022 and compared them internationally.

Saudi Arabia’s standardized cancer mortality rate among women stood at 62.7 deaths per 100,000 people. The report said that was lower than rates recorded in Kuwait, China, Australia, the United States, Jordan, Norway, the United Kingdom, Ireland and Singapore.

Oman recorded the lowest female rate among the countries listed, at 57.4 deaths per 100,000, followed by Qatar at 61.8, India at 62.6 and Bahrain at 62.8.

Among men, Saudi Arabia’s standardized rate was 65.8 deaths per 100,000. The report said this was lower than rates in Oman, the United States, Jordan, Australia, Norway, Morocco, Ireland, the United Kingdom, Egypt, China and Singapore, while India recorded the same rate. Qatar had the lowest male rate among the countries cited.
