Saudi Arabia tells Iran it remains committed to regional security, stability

Saudi Arabia reiterated its dedication to promoting regional security and stability during a phone call with Iran on Sunday. The Kingdom emphasized its ongoing role in fostering conditions that serve the shared interests of all regional nations and populations.

The discussion between Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and his Iranian counterpart, Abbas Araghchi, centered on the latest regional developments. Both ministers reviewed the current situation and explored diplomatic initiatives aimed at reducing existing tensions.

Prince Faisal also engaged in separate telephone conversations with Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, and Ayman Safadi, Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister. These discussions also focused on regional developments.

During these separate talks, the ministers underscored the importance of supporting diplomatic efforts and coordinating positions. Their collective goal is to de-escalate tensions and counter any potential threats to regional security. Furthermore, they stressed the necessity of safeguarding freedom of navigation in critical waterways like the Arabian Gulf and the Red Sea, and of mitigating the broader consequences stemming from the ongoing regional crisis.
