Saudi Conference Examines Security, History and Nation-Building

Saudi Arabia’s Security and History Dialogue 2026 conference opened in Riyadh with a focus on how security has shaped the Kingdom’s institutions, stability and development. Interior Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud bin Naif bin Abdulaziz attended the opening at the Cultural Palace in the Diplomatic Quarter.

Organised by the Ministry of Interior under the theme “Our History and Our Future: Security and Growth,” the conference presents security as a longstanding foundation of state-building. General Supervisor Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Tuwaian said the event would bring together experts and specialists from inside and outside the Kingdom to examine Saudi history through the lenses of security and development.

The programme addresses the Kingdom’s security journey from the establishment of the First Saudi State to the present day. It also covers national awareness, cultural security and the role of security in supporting investment, creating opportunities and improving quality of life. Organisers said the conference aims to produce documented material that strengthens national identity and conveys the Saudi story to future generations.

The minister and other attendees watched an introductory film before touring an exhibition featuring participating entities, historical and educational material, and interactive experiences. The exhibition documents nearly three centuries of the Saudi state’s security journey.

The conference builds on a 2025 forum organised by the Ministry of Interior with the King Abdulaziz Foundation, known as Darah, as well as defence, national guard, state security, academic, media and cultural bodies. Running until September 8, the event includes more than 65 dialogue sessions and interactive meetings, with over 160 officials, experts, researchers and academics serving as speakers.
