Saudi Crown Prince Orders Resumption of Lebanese Exports to Kingdom Amid GCC Condemnation of Iran

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has ordered the immediate resumption of Lebanese exports to the Kingdom, signaling a potential thaw in relations. This decision comes as the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) strongly condemned recent Iranian attacks against Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan.

These hostile acts do not serve any understanding or rapprochement, but rather distance peoples from one another, undermine the foundations of trust, sow discord and close the doors of dialogue to which the GCC states have always called for.

The GCC's 167th Ministerial Council, meeting in Manama, labeled the attacks as "flagrant violations against their sovereignty and security of their people." The council stressed that such hostile acts undermine trust, sow discord, and hinder dialogue, contrary to the GCC states' consistent calls for rapprochement. Reaffirming the principle that "the security of the GCC states is indivisible," the council assured citizens and residents that joint defense capabilities and air defense systems are effectively countering these threats. The statement further asserted the GCC states' right to defend themselves "individually and collectively, and to respond to this aggression by all legitimate means," in accordance with international law.

While renewing the GCC's commitment to peace and diplomatic solutions, the council posed a critical question to the aggressor: "How can future relations be built amid the continuation of these attacks?"
