Saudi customs foil 1,131 smuggling attempts

Saudi Arabia's customs ports have intercepted a significant number of smuggling attempts, with authorities foiling 1,131 incidents across land, sea, and air entry points. The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) announced the successful operations, which targeted a wide array of illicit goods.

Among the confiscated items were 118 different types of narcotic substances, including hashish, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, and Captagon pills. Additionally, customs officers intercepted 402 prohibited materials, 2,478 tobacco and related products, nine cases involving weapons and equipment, and 25 instances of undeclared cash.

ZATCA emphasized its dedication to strengthening customs controls on the Kingdom's imports and exports. This effort is conducted in collaboration with relevant government agencies to ensure societal safety and bolster national security. The authority also appealed to the public for assistance in combating smuggling, urging citizens to report any suspected violations. ZATCA assures that all reports are handled with confidentiality and that informants may receive financial rewards if their information leads to a confirmed customs violation.
