Saudi FM Holds Phone Talks with US Secretary of State

Saudi Arabia and Canada have solidified their partnership with a series of agreements and memorandums of understanding, signed in the presence of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney. This landmark visit, the first by a Canadian prime minister in 25 years, marks a significant step in bilateral relations.

The cornerstone of this enhanced cooperation is the Joint Action Document, which will act as an overarching framework for future collaboration. It aims to align national priorities and institutionalize cooperation across key areas. This document will be implemented through the newly established Saudi-Canadian Coordination Council.

The council, to be headed by the foreign ministers of both nations, will operate under a defined governance structure. Its objective is to strengthen bilateral ties through continuous consultation and coordination. The council will serve as a unified platform to advance relations across political affairs, security and defense, economic and trade cooperation, cultural and educational exchanges, and consular matters. Both nations expressed a shared commitment to expanding cooperation and deepening consultation in areas of mutual interest, including enhancing security, supporting economic growth, and empowering communities.
