Saudi-led coalition warns Houthis: ‘We will respond firmly’

Saudi Arabia’s coalition in Yemen has drawn a new line after Houthi attacks that it says targeted civilian and economic sites in Abha, Khamis Mushait, Jazan and Najran. Coalition spokesman Maj. Gen. Turki Al-Maliki called the attacks a “dangerous escalation” and warned that the militia would face a firm response.

Al-Maliki said the strikes and attempted strikes targeted Saudi territory, national assets, citizens and residents. He said 73 civilians, including women and children, were injured. The spokesman described the incidents as a violation of Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and a direct threat to people living in the Kingdom.

The spokesman added that the coalition would take “the necessary measures and actions” against the sources of the threat and work to neutralize the danger they pose. The statement signals a potentially tougher response as Saudi authorities emphasize protection for civilian areas and critical national infrastructure.
