Saúl Monreal urges Inzunza to return to Morena and honor his commitment to the movement

Senator Saúl Monreal Ávila called on Enrique Inzunza Cázarez to return to Morena’s parliamentary group, saying he remains part of the movement despite the investigations and accusations he faces.

Monreal said some Morena senators had considered Inzunza’s continued membership inappropriate because of those allegations. He urged Inzunza to reconsider his decision to remain in the Senate without belonging to a caucus and to accept the political consequences of that choice.

"If he decided to stay, he has to assume his commitment to the movement," Monreal said. He added that an important constitutional reform proposed by President Claudia Sheinbaum was coming and that Inzunza’s presence and support would be needed. Monreal also said he hoped Inzunza would vote in favor of Morena initiatives.

Monreal stopped short of defending Inzunza or calling him a valuable member of the caucus. He said majority decisions should be respected by members of the movement, even when they face difficult political or personal circumstances.

"We cannot set aside the accusations against him, and I hope they are clarified and that the Attorney General’s Office and the investigating authorities give us results," Monreal said. He left responsibility for determining any wrongdoing to the authorities.
